The newest addition

I was delighted to meet the newest little Bear in town. So sweet and little. Just 9 days old and already so aware of the whole world; her big sister and loving parents by her side. On a rainy October day I got to be apart of all the cuddling and giggling of little ones.

Let the Season Begin

I'm excited for "portrait season" and was able to start it off with a great family I haven't seen in a while. They even had a new addition for me to meet! This is the typical busy time for most portrait photographers. Everyone is scrabbling to get photos and Holiday Cards, gift prints for relatives and their wall's looking beautiful with the latest family images showing their family's growth in the last year. It's also a beautiful time of year, which shows true after this weekend's warm spell. The low tides that come with Fall and Winter are also a really good time to take some family photos at the beach. The low and negative low tides are so nice for creating great images on the "glass" down by the waterline. I hope to be busy this season and see some of you that I haven't seen in a while and get to enjoy the beach with my family as well! Stay tuned for some mini-session info which might be great for some of you that are just looking to do some holiday cards. Happy Fall everyone!

Destination Wedding at "The Ranch"

This summer I was asked to photograph a beach wedding up at the well known Hollister Ranch, in Santa Barbara. I happily accepted. Anytime you're invited to "The Ranch" you MUST accept. I had the opportunity to go with some friends when I was younger and even surfed a few waves there, so of course I was excited to go back. Being there for a wedding was equally as exciting. Wedding days are always charged with such emotion and this day was no different.

Before the wedding day I only had known the bride, and when I met the groom I got a very similar sense about him. They seem to be perfect for eachother. One reminds me of the other.

When they were getting seriously in love, wanting to know if getting married was the right thing to do, each sought out a sign that would ensure they were doing the right thing. I love how when pondering their love she caught the longest waves of her life. And on another occasion, while out surfing, he had a mother and baby dolphin appear feet from him; after asking that deep question of if he could marry her. Their story brought tears to my eyes. It was hard to focus, literally, for a minute there. So on this beautiful, preserved land, that they'd both have had ties to, separately, yet parallel, they connected their lives forever.

Here's a few images from that day.

We Are Hyena

I recently shot some lifestyle images for RAEN optics, based here in Encinitas, highlighting the talents of Hyena, an up-and-coming band here in San Diego. This indie-electro band is comprised of two good looking and talented men, Mike Cooper and Bryan Stratman. The session, shot at "the saloon" in Encinitas, was a good mix of fashion and fun, the perfect way to kick off a Friday night. Hyena was kind enough to share their new album "We See You" with me. I loved it right away, my favorite track being the album opener "Anyone's Guess." These guys play all over San Diego and I can't wait to catch one of their live shows. Check out the interview they did with RAEN here.
